Our Traditions

Randolph was founded more than a century ago as Randolph-Macon Woman's College. Throughout its distinguished history, the College has been steeped in traditions that remain vital, important, and fun for today's students.

For example:

  • Every other year, the campus community presents a Greek play in the College's unique outdoor Greek amphitheatre.
  • On Pumpkin Parade day, sophomores present their senior partners with lighted pumpkins and parade through the campus.
  • On our annual MacDoodle Day, the College cancels all classes and devotes the day to building community and having fun together.
  • The College recognizes its many international students by displaying the flag of each student's home country in the Student Center.

But no tradition stands taller than the Honor System, which requires students to abide by the highest standards of honesty and integrity. The system is so strong that the College grants Randolph students the privilege of scheduling their own final exams.
